Full Version: Log-off Dialog Problem

Hi. I'm new to modifying WinXP themes. It's quite easy to apply the themes by simply copying the contents of the downloaded files to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes. Problem is, I have encountered some themes which look like they are also supposed to modify the log-off dialogue window ("Restert", "Shut Down", "Log off"), but don't. When I apply the theme everything is modified (texts, desktop icons, start menu, etc.) except the log off dialogue window, which is still the classic, blue log off dialogue. I know the theme is also supposed to modify this dialogue window because the screenshot shows a modified version, but it just isn't modified. I know I'm doing this right because everything but the log-off dialogue window has been changed. This isn't only with one theme, but with several which i think should modify the log-off dialogue box. Please help. Thanks in advance.

It's possible the author of the them modified his or her logon/logoff screen, but didn't include these. Or they uploaded them separately. I know Lightstar often releases free themes but also has paid themes that include these additional customizations.

Post the link to a theme in question and I can have a look and tell you :)

Thanks for helping.

Here's a link. It's on page 6 of the Windows XP themes, and it's called "Cerulean".

Everything is changed: Icons, wallpaper, mouse pointers, start menu, etc., All except the Welcome screen and the Log-off dialogue box.

Again, many thanks.

Found it. Yeah that is a Lightstar theme that was premium (paid) that he later released free. If you read the Instructions.txt file in the zip archive, it makes reference to some optional customizations *if included*. So seems he didn't include the logoff, despite it being in the screenshot.

Lightstar is on the site frequently so you can PM him, or drop by his web site at http://www.lightstar1.com. I'm sure he'd send you the logoff if he still has it, and advise how to install it.

Ok. I'll check it out. Many thanks!
